Dejea started her dance training at the age of three at Galle & Collins Dance Academy where she studied Classical Ballet under the tutelage of Annie Gale Collins, a former member of the Royal Danish Ballet. During her years at Galle & Collins she also studied tap, acrobatics, and jazz under Ed Collins. Before his passing, Ed Collins has performed in numerous Broadway and TV shows such as West Side Story and Gypsy. In 2008, at the age of 13, Dejea was accepted into a six week summer intensive program with The Dance Theater of Harlem where she had the pleasure of meeting the founder, Arthur Mitchell. From 2009-2010 she assisted teaching ballet to young children from the Poughkeepsie area at the YMCA. Dejea joined Poughkeepsie City Ballet in 2012, and has danced as a Swan in New York Academy of Ballet's (NYAB) production of "Swan Lake", and has continued dancing with NYAB as an alumni for the past few years, as well as instructing the Preparation for Ballet class at NYAB from 2018-2019. Dejea currently holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology. Currently, she is pursuing a second Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and will graduate in December 2020.
