Poughkeepsie Dance Theatre (PDT) is the official performance company for New York Academy of Ballet (NYAB). PDT is a pre-professional company designed to challenge dancers that desire a career in dance or have a passion for dance, giving them a professional environment to work in with college and professional level dancers. The company is managed by Alessia Gaetana Santoro (BFA dance), Artistic Director of NYAB. Works performed by the company include ballet & modern choreographed by Alessia Gaetana Santoro and other guest choreographers.
Admission into the company is done annually by Audition. Once accepted into Poughkeepsie Dance Theatre, dancers must attend ballet and modern classes held at New York Academy of Ballet along with company rehearsals held at NYAB. Class requirements are; two (2) ballet classes, one (1) modern class, and one (1) class of dancers choice.
The performance season for PDT runs from September-June with a wide variety of works and performance venues. Our culminating season ends with a premiere of a new work at the Bardavon Opera House with the New York Academy of Ballet.
